Baby Borges #3

Here's our little one. This pic is 11 weeks, so a week or so ago. I am 14 weeks now and still waiting for the turn around. By that I mean, feeling better. Let me tell you, I am pooped- exhausted I mean, and nauseated. Beyond belief. I think I am getting old, I 'm going to be 37 in a few weeks you know. In the obstetric world, once your 35, that is AMA ( advanced maternal age) and it's a big deal. When I was pregnant with David, all was well; I went along like nobody's business. Then, 'poof!' I turned 35 and I was pregnant with Daniel and you would have thought I was dying the next day. Genetic counseling, weekly fetal monitoring @36weeks, and AMA written smack dab on the front of my "problem list" in my prenatal chart. I really just blew it off, since I am a L&D nurse and all (trying to be cool) , but deep down it kinda got to me. I do not feel nearly 37 yrs old, 28 is more like it. High school seems like just yesterday (thank God it's not) and I look like I am 16. (at least that's what they say :) )

I have been to my first appt. but with baby #3, the timing of that has been more laxed. I usually have been a couple times by now. I am looking forward to seeing the dr. next week for another sono. We'll probably not find out the sex so in the next 6 weeks, I am going to have to be strong and not cheat for Brian's sake. He really wants to be surprised. Practically speaking, that is not ideal for me but we are in this together and as he reminded me recently, I got my way last time.
So, there you have it our family is growing right before our eyes and we couldn't be happier.
( so I have to tell you. I tried to scan my pic- obviously I am not computer savvy. My boys were having a meltdown the whole time I tried to update my post. very frustrating. I couldn't get more than 2 min before blowing a gasket) hopefully the next one will be better.

David's 3! Oh my how time flies

So, David is 3. Actually he is 3 + 3weeks b/c mommy hasn't gotten herself up to posting his birthday pics. We had a great time however, both of his "Pappoos" were there and Grammy B and Grandma. It was such a blessing to have his grandparents from California come all the way out for his birthday. Now, everytime he sees a plane he waves and says hi, like they are on that plane.

We decided to keep things low key, b/c that's how David prefers it and enjoyed grilling burgers and hotdogs in the backyard. Our close friends and neighbors, the Caligures came over and blessed us with wonderful potato salad and TWO apple pies. The boys really have a ball with their kids, there are 6 of them with their ages ranging from 6mths-11yrs. It is a lot of fun watching them interact and play with others, David seems like such a big boy showing the little ones how his dump trucks work and chasing them in the sprinkler. He wasn't very cooperative with blowing out his candles and diving into his cupcakes, though. He really doesn't enjoy the "all eyes are on you" scenario that comes with the birthday festivity. I had to laugh b/c later, once no one was paying attention, he decided he wanted a cupcake and then proceeded to eat 3. I felt a little guilty allowing him to overeat like that but I figured 'why not, it's his birthday', let him go all out. The sun got very hot after awhile so the kids ran around in the sprinkler, laughing and having a ball. It brought back memories of when I was a kid b/c we didn't have a pool like some of my friends and that was howItalic we cooled ourselves off back then. Good old fashioned fun.

We didn't get him a lot of gifts, but it ended up taking us 3 days for him to open them b/c we were so busy. I think he thought his birthday would go on forever and he seemed like he enjoyed receiving his cards ( his own mail) just as much. Esp. Uncle Mark's b/c when he opened it, it makes sounds like a firetruck with a great pic on the front. One of his favorite gifts was from Grammy and Pappoo Borges, who bought him a red semi truck. It is definitely not size that does it for him, b/c apparently he bypassed all the big trucks and kept his decision forthe modest one. The red one......that boy sure does love red.

All and all it was a great celebration. I was exhausted with this little one growing inside me and the commotion of it all but the memories were priceless. My little boy is starting to get away from me. I still remember holding him in my arms like it was yesterday. Sometimes I try and he wiggles and giggles to get out of my hold, like he's too big to be cuddled. I am learning ways to get to his sensitive side, though he likes his back scratched before he falls asleep and when I love on Daniel, he comes to me asking for his lovin' . I know that's kind of cruel but a mommy will go to any measure to get kisses from her son.

I am trying everyday to stop and breath in the sweet fragrance of motherhood. David and Daniel are a daily reminder of God's love for me and how he wants to bless me more and more......only if I'd take the time to take in all in.

Yes! "Another baby!!!"........Praise the Lord!

o.k. so for all you hopefuls out there, I am writing this in pink. And yes, it's official Brian and I are expecting baby number 3! It has been extremely difficult keeping this secret b/c we have known for six weeks and I have seen many of my close friends and could hardly hold it in. I wanted to share so badly but we really wanted to wait until our parents knew and I was farther along. I am 10 weeks, the baby is due in November ~ 18th. I have been feeling miserable most of my first trimester so I have layed low, trying to stay mysterious. We are excited of course, Brian just laughed when I told him, he thought I was joking. David is adorable, he's learned that there's a baby in my belly and told his grandparents for us while they were visiting this weekend. I haven't had an official doctor's visit but my doctor was here tonight, at work and she did a quick sono. - the perks of working on L&D. I feel much more confident to share our news now that I have at least seen him or her. Even I feel like it's more real once I see the sonogram. I can only imagine how this impacts young girls who are faced with crisis pregnancies, like many that I see at the pregnancy center.
I will update often and be posting pics of David's birthday and Grammy B and Papoo's visit this past week. We had such a great time, it is always so hard to say goodbye. We miss them terribly. The boys had a wonderful time with them, it was a lot of fun.

A Day in the park

Last Friday the boys and I hung out at the park with a couple friends. We try to get together for "mommy & me" playdates once or twice a month. Katie and Luke made it, as well as, Terri and Sammy. He and Daniel mastered the slide. Daniel's doing great, he does the slide all by himself now and tried to climb, the very big, jungle gym. He is quite adventurous. Terri had a bubble blower, which made mine look sad, that the kids loved. Look at David's laugh! Isn't he great? I swell up inside when he laughs like that. The weather was beautiful. Wish I had a pic of Luke and his sunglasses, he was so cool. I am so grateful that God has blessed me with these women to hang out with. It has been a prayer of mine for awhile. It is refreshing to vent, encourage, pray, and laugh with such great people. Thank you Lord.

David loves to climb and play on daddy. And, Daniel loves to go down the slide head first. He's my little dare devil. The boys finally got haircuts. Brian usually does David's with his clippers. He doesn't like it, most of the time, so this was taken early in the process. Daniel did a great job at the barber shop. (He got a "real" haircut b/c mommy screwed it up last time) He was extremely serious and had an innate understanding not to move when she was using the clippers. Daniel's also the silly one. He decided to wear his stickers on his nose and enjoyed it for quite awhile. This weekend we are enjoying hanging out as a family. Since I work every other weekend, I look forward to having Brian home. Even if he's outside most of the day, we manage to spend good quality time together. It will be nice, however, when they are big enough to unleash outdoors and then mommy can stay in to get some chores done when she needs too. Until then, I am off to the "great outdoors" for some fun family activity.

Chilly February day. The boys were being silly and mommy was trying to get them both to smile at the same time.

Can't have too many cute hat pics. Daniel on a mission, pushing his dump truck around the yard.

The kids realized how fun it could be to pull the dead leaves off the banana trees. They'd pull and pull until they fell over.

David wanted to try out mommy's foot massager. ( Daniel likes to lay on it)

Hodge podge

Our family is finally healed of illness. I am so thrilled. I had forgotten what a normal "poopy" looked like. Thankfully, 4days have revealed NORMAL. Yea! David and Daniel are feeling better and it is refreshing to have my boys back. This past week was the best week at daycare they've had yet. David came home with a GOOD JOB! sticker on his sheet and apparently had a wonderful day. He comes home singing songs that they learn in class and talks up a storm about everything. It is so cool to have a conversation with a (almost) 3 yr. old. Daniel is usually pretty good at school but does seem to cling a little more lately. He eats like a horse, twice as much as David usually and needs a bath after each meal b/c he enjoys his food so much.

I went to the gym for the first time in months this week. I've decided to try out spinning again. It was great and oh how I missed that "its good for you" feeling after class. I screwed it up, however, b/c I ate too many to tell you , girl scout cookies tonight at work.

Our past weekend was fun. I always look forward to our weekend off together. We enjoyed breakfast together and hung out playing outside, while daddy worked. David gets his hands all dirty, and tells me he's dirty b/c he's 'been working outside all day', like daddy. It's so cute. That evening we splurged and had one of our Caylee's (both our sitters are named Kayle, but spelled differently) watch the boys. We took advantage and went our class potluck as a couple. It was so nice to be with all of our close friends and eat. Did I say eat? Well, it was great to actually eat a plate of food casually, relaxed tasting every morsel. I came home stuffed. What a great evening. Sunday morning was a good day at church. Our speaker was Steve Saint, the son of one of the pilots killed on mission in Ecuador years ago. The movie End of the Spear depicts the story. He shared an awesome testimony of forgiveness and how a man can be changed forever in Christ. His passion was contagious and I yearned to have an obedient heart such as his, reaching beyond ourselves. I could truly see how God blesses beyond imagine when our hearts and minds are in line with His eternal goal. The afternoon was topped off with more fellowship with the ladies at Abby's baby shower. It was quite a splendid time of encouragement, laughter, and showering a dear mommy to be. As our class is growing, our friendships are taking on new shape and depth. I cherish such awesome friends.

Today we took off and went with daddy to an auction. I had never been to the real thing, where the guy talks really fast and you can barely understand what he's saying. There wasn't much there that I wanted to buy; I discovered it was just a fancy garage sale. The kids had fun running around and Daniel tried out most of the toys. His favorite was an old rocking horse, like the ones on a stand. He had himself rockin so hard the whole lifted up off the ground and he just laughed. He is definitely the dare devil of the two. As we drove home, David proceeded to tell me he was reading his Bible. He was actually reading his truck book, but I guess to him it may be close. I realized I had some work to do to help get this straight but it was cute.
